1.Why do you wear Vibram FiveFingers?
Two reasons:
A: I have to wear them, it’s an important part of my regime to fight shin splints and achilles tendinotpathy
B: I want to wear them, they are lightweight, fun & fast
2.What do you use them for most and how have FiveFingers made a difference?
I use them for running, hiking and kayaking. Most important for me is as a training tool, minimum 5K with maximum 7 days between. This helps strengthening my feet and ankles, and makes a huge difference, from having troubles getting out of bed in the morning I’m now at 50K/week.
3.How do you respond to people who don't understand the benefits?
Telling two stories. The one above. The other story is about my first few attempts in VFF, limping back home after a few hundre metes, legs cramping up. Now I can run 10K+ in them, and hike in them all day long. Finally explaining how your toes fit into the pockets like a comb, giving a superior (sense of) security, there is no sliding around, no comparison by far
4.How did you discover FiveFingers?
Reading up on the problems created by shoes with too much support and weakening feet and ankles. Barefoot shoes were recommended, VFF seemed to be the best suggested alternative.
5.What other barefoot products do you wear?
In addition to my 5+ pairs of VFF I have two pairs of Vivo barefoot for more formal occasions 😊, and one pair of Altra Superiors (yes, I agree, they don’t really qualify, but sometimes a bit more cushion is still needed, they are at least zero drop).
If you came as far as here: Thank you for reading 😊
